The Beginning
On July 11, 1984, the first ISO TC 184/SC 4 meeting was held at NIST. The reason for the meeting was to create an international standard that enabled the capture of information comprising a computerized product model in a neutral form without the loss of completeness and intergrity, throughout the life of a product.
